Acropolis remains the magnet for visitors to Athens

Α sunny but pleasant, as far as the temperatures are concerned, Sunday afternoon brought thousands of visitors, Greeks and foreign tourists alike, to the Acropolis in central Athens. The Acropolis, which hosts the Classical-era Parthenon (in the photo) and a several other notable ancient temples, is the east Mediterranean country's foremost attraction. The annual Athens Festival is also in full swing, with theatrical and musical performances conducted at the Herod Atticus Odeon, at foot of the Acropolis' southern side, and the incomparable ancient theatre at Epidaurus (Epidavros)
